What wine tells about you

Tell me what wine you drink and I’ll tell you what kind of person you are… Wines talk a lot about your personality! What wine tells about you?

what wine tells about you

You are what you eat…and what you drink! Your taste in wines says a lot about who you are.

There are people who always order wine from the best-known regions, such as Ribera del Duero and Rioja. These are usually classical individuals who make safe bets. They might risk trying out other appellations d’origine of the good wines which grow in the country.

Others just love aromatic white wines, of varieties such as Gewürztraminer or Verdejo. These wines are ideal as an aperitif, but not for eating with meat. They can certainly find a fruity wine that they like for their more carnivorous meals.

They say some people only drink red wine because they find all whites to be too sickly sweet. But this is not so true: there are higher alcohol whites with woody flavors that might make them change their mind.

Being a teetotaler is one option in life, but perhaps those who say they don’t like wine just haven’t found their ideal wine yet… I encourage you to learn what wine tells about you and find your choice between the huge variety of wines of the world.

Key concepts for beginners

  • Appellation d’origine (D.O.): This is a certificate stating that a wine is of optimal quality and was produced in a specific region, with the features of its climate, a specific grape, the character of the local people…
  • Woody: Aged in a wooden barrel.
  • Gewürztraminer: It sounds very German and difficult to pronounce, but these wines are amazing, being both aromatic and very sensual. This is the name of a white variety, with aromas of spice and roses.
  • Varieties: By this we mean “grape varieties.” Depending on the stock planted, different types of grape can be grown. Among the different varieties of reds and whites, you will gradually get to know (and drink!) their aromas and tastes which contribute a part of the wines’ personality.
  • Verdejo: A white grape variety with great character that smells of tropical fruit. You normally find it in the D.O. Rueda (located south of Valladolid, west of Segovia and northeast of Ávila, in Spain).

I like sherry wine. The best for me is “amontillado”, although usually it’s expensive. I use drink “Solera 1947” or “Alfonso”. Dry sherry wine are welcomed also. Verdejo and Riesling are my favourites white varieties. Red wines, like “Finca Resalso” are good and have a equilibrate price. Have a good day. Cheers!!!
